Description
Large bronze circular tray decorated to the interior with engraved abstract motifs in a concentric order and embellished in the center by a rosette in high relief. The tray is to be dated within a hundred years of extremely turbulent history, from the 12th to the 13th century AD. Among four different crusades aiming to reach Egypt, Constantinople was mercilessly sacked, Bagdad was captured and destroyed by the Mongols, Jerusalem was captured by the Crusaders, only to be recaptured and to remain in Muslim hands until 1918 and the Mamluk Dynasty was founded, ruling Egypt until 1517. - (GD.043R)
