Description
Juglet, blown glass; it has the shape of a down-turned pear, with a collar on its upper part, a tall opening neck with an angular handle. Egypt or Eastern Mediterranean, most likely Roman, 2nd – 4th century. Ht. 8cm; Top diam. 1.7cm. Comparative material: there are a few similar Roman examples published by Israeli, but they are without handles, cf. Israeli, nos.104-108, p.116- 117. A similarly shaped, decorated later period juglet is in the Nasser D. Khalili collection, cf. Goldstein, no.67, pp.72-73, attributed to Syria. Prof.Geza Fehervari Prof. Geoffrey King - (JB.1376)
