With a canine body and a human face on each
end, this sculpture presents an unusual artistic
creation. The identical heads have sharply
pointed chins, puckered open mouths, well-
formed noses, a band of vertical checkerboard
scarification on the forehead, and a hairdo of
seven striated segments. In the middle of the
body, on both sides, are small human faces, like
masks, similar in form to the heads at either end
of the body. Decoration, or a form of
scarification, is seen running along the back in
the form of two bands of striated lines at acute
angles. It is possible that this object was used as
a circumcision stool, though the precise nature of
the iconography is unknown.
