Description
The detail and fine craftsmanship of this bowl are clear signs of a true artist from an ancient culture. The incised geometric patterning around the bowl is done with precision and care along with the appliqué work on both the face and the legs and tail. The red slip is a uniform deep color with the decoration highlighted with a beige slip. The head of the animal may represent a crocodile or other reptile with large teeth and nostrils protruding. No matter how one looks at it or how one perceives this bowl, it is a true work of art that has withstood the test of time and continues to be a pleasure to behold and to cherish. - (PF.3750)
