Description
The juxtaposition of an angular, straining face atop a rounded female body makes this figure appear to be wearing a mask. This effect is further enhanced by deposits of black manganese which cut diagonally across the upper half of the head, adding to its mystery. The woman leans forward, clutching at her sides, perhaps a participant in some ritual so secret that one's identity must remain hidden. - (PF.0509)
