Description |
The location of the Fanti tribe in Southern Ghana
has led them to be exposed more than most
other tribes through the centuries to distinct
cultural influences from the Near East. Ghana is
famous for having some of the world's richest
gold mines, and throughout the past three
centuries, their culture has become more and
more gold-oriented. This charming brass spoon
was instrumental in the sale and purchase of
gold dust. It acted as a form of measurement.
The energy of this figure comes across with such
force that it summons our attention. The art
from this area appeases our thirst for beauty and
what lingers in our mind is awe and wonder at
this beautiful, delicate creation.
