Description
This seal is set in an 18 karat gold ring

According to tradition, the prophet Muhammad owned a seal ring used for correspondences with foreign princes. Long before, seals were important in ancient times as substitutes for signatures, and to seal a variety of items from wine bottles to imperial treasures. The personal seal was an essential instrument in commercial activities, utilized by successive caliphs for state business. The charm of this seal is found in the delicacy of the script, interlacing around the surface of the agate. To own such a seal was a symbol of wealth and social position. Women as well as men wore signet rings, including empresses and imperial princesses. It is most likely this seal was worn by someone of importance; long since forgotten, but whose proud signet has retained its beauty and magic over the centuries.
