Nayarit Sculpture of a Standing Woman - PF.2678 Origin: Western Mexico Circa: 300
BC
to 300
AD Dimensions:8" (20.3cm) high Collection: Pre-Columbian Medium: Terracotta
This proudly posed female figure wears the
garments and other adornments of a
noblewoman. She stands with her legs planted
firmly, back straight, hands on her hips. This
pose is a common one for the women of her
class. She is a fine example of womanhood;
strong, confident and powerful. We feel
humbled in her presence even today.
