Description |
This charming vignette of daily life, shows a
woman grinding cornmeal in a stone mortar.
Except for her lack of costume, such a scene
would not be unusual in the Mexican
countryside today. Buried to accompany the
deceased, this delightful figure guaranteed that
the staple of cornmeal would be available
through eternity. Lost in the familiar ritual of her
task, she has not noticed the passage of time.
We should be careful lest we startle her.
- (PF.1436)
