This unusual decorated lamp must once have
brought light to a palatial home in the Baghdad
of the Arabian nights. Perhaps in the glow of this
very lamp, Omar Khayam, the court astronomer
and poet, composed the Rubaiyat. This gorgeous
lamp is a splendid and rare example of
metalwork from the golden age of Islam.
