Description |
This rare coin is mounted in an 18-karat gold
ring set with 14 genuine diamonds with a total
weight of 0.22 carat. The Himyarite
Confederacy ruled Ancient Yemen, an important
stop on the trade routes to India. Though never
conquered by the Romans, their coinage reflects
a Classical influence. This extremely concave
coin, base on Athenian prototypes, bears the
portrait of a beardless man who resembles the
Roman Emperor Augustus. Even in a world that
seems as far away to our age as Classical
Antiquity, this was a token of distant, exotic, and
mysterious place. Jewelry such as this is for
those who can appreciate the unusual.
