Description
This genuine ancient silver coin has been set in a modern 18 karat gold pin.

Born in 356 B.C. son of Philip II of Macedon and Olympias, Alexander's achievements within such a short lifetime were so spectacular as to border on myth. It was therefore appropriate to him and to the world that he should adopt the guise of the mythical hero Hercules, wearing the skin of the Nemean lion, as shown on this beautiful coin. Alexander's brilliant military skills, combined with his restless spirit, carried him and his vast army (around 50,000) across Asia: Minor to conquer the great Persian empire, and then on as far as India. Though dying young his lasting achievement was the spread of Hellenistic culture from as far as the Black Sea to Egypt, a legacy that still resonates to this day.
