With bold, forceful lines, the artist
has sketched the muscular form of a
horned bull. Throughout the ancient
world, since the days when man lived by
hunting, the bull has been worshipped as
a god, or a gift worthy of the most
powerful deities. This terracotta
votive, which captures the very essence
of the animal, must once have been such
an offering from a person unknown to a
god now equally forgotten by time.
