Description
This bowl painted over an opaque white glazed ground with copper-brown lustre is something of rarity. Its decoration has all the characteristics of Kashan ware.

The ornamentation in the cavetto has fine lobed medallions and a floral motif in the centre. The decoration dominates the entire Kashan bowl. The central decoration is surmounted by a band of Naskh scripts surmounted by a band of Kufic script and a further band of Naksh script. The verses on bowls of this kind were usually benedictory.

It is nevertheless the decoration of the central medallion that needs special appreciation because of its delicate and intricate designs. - (AMD.18)
