Description
As if to compensate for the loss of its ancient contents, time has given this exquisite little bottle an iridescent shimmer, lovely as a pearl. It is remarkable to think that something so delicate has survived intact since the days of Rome, when that mighty empire is but a ruined memory. In antiquity, this vial probably held fragrances or ointments, perhaps brought by caravan from the far corners of the world. Today, it seems the perfect container for the melancholy and elusive perfume of memory. - (GF.0257)
