An extremely attractive ormolu-mounted Sèvres style porcelain French mantel clock, dating to the last quarter of the 19th Century. The gilt ormolu case is adorned by classical style acanthus swags. It has hand decorated porcelain panels, the central Sèvres piece panel depicting a romantic courtship scene, with musician playing the lute to a young lady in rural surroundings, the two lateral ones are decorated with with woodland scenery. The beautiful Roman numeral dial is a mixture of ormolu and fine enamel over floral decorated Sevres porcelain base on five gild bronze feet. - (CB.80)
