An interesting object, this lead vessel is decorated
with a raised narrative scene, possibly mythological
in nature. It would appear that some form of
celebration on going on, for figures can be seen to
be dancing to a man playing an aulos, a double
reeded flute, popular in ancient Greece. This
decoration could be suggestive of the vessels use,
for the storage of wine. Being made of lead,
however, makes it very rare indeed.
