Description
This beautiful vessel, demonstrates the true talent of the Mayan artists. The beige clay has been carefully covered with a red slip that is perfectly smooth to the touch, exemplifying the brilliant craftsmanship. The main narrative is contained within decorative geometric borders around the circumference the vessel. The narrative itself shows two men performing some form of ritualistic activity, yet the actual nature of the ritual is unclear. However, great care has been taken by the artist to accentuate the intricacies of the costuming and jewelry. When coming in contact with such apiece, the viewer cannot be but awestruck by its beauty and presence, so many years after its creation, and we realize the true magic that art can possess. - (PF.3717)
